Thunder Bay District's Social Services To Be Enhanced By Implementing Altus Dynamics NAV 2013

Altus Dynamics announced today that The District of Thunder Bay Social Services Administration Board is to implement their Social Services Finance, HR, Payroll and Portals' suite, to provide improved services to the District of Thunder Bay.

In late 2012, The District of Thunder Bay Social Services Administration Board began the process of looking for a new financial management solution to replace their existing, SAP-based system. They initially reached out to Microsoft Canada for advice and guidance as to suitable solutions and potential implementation partners. The Board had developed an IT strategy aligned to Microsoft solutions, and felt their new ERP solution should maximise the benefits of that strategy and the investment they had made.

"Their existing SAP solution was provided by a third party for a number of years. Over the years they had developed a more Microsoft-focused IT strategy internally and wanted to align their new financial management and HR solution more closely with the rest of the Microsoft-based products in use." commented Chief Technology Officer at Altus Dynamics, James Faw. "They looked at a number of Microsoft options, but Dynamics NAV obviously fit their requirements the best."

After a competitive public Request for Proposal process, Altus Dynamics emerged as the front runner due to their presence in the industry, knowledge of existing solutions and experience implementing similar financial management solutions for social services in other organisations including The District of Nipissing Social Services Administration Board and Rainy River District Social Services Administration Board.

"It's a significant implementation in terms of features and functionality as well as numbers. They'll have 15 users for Finance, along with licences for the HR and Payroll modules and employee self-service portal users. Finance will go in first, with the remainder happening in Phase 2." commented Colin Dickinson, CEO at Altus Dynamics. "Working with clients like TBDSSAB is always so rewarding, as they do so much for their local communities. Our client services and product teams are raring to get boots on the ground and get stuck in." he added.

Once fully implemented The District of Thunder Bay Social Services Administration Board will benefit from the latest in ERP technology with the 2013 version of NAV, joining close to 100,000 organisations world-wide on the NAV platform. The new fully integrated accounting, HR and payroll system will provide huge benefits in terms of data sharing and flow between various stakeholders within the Board. Reporting will also be in real time, allowing for improved planning, forecasting and decision making. In addition, the Altus Dynamics NAV solution will integrate with the Board's Property Management solution, further improving operational efficiencies. Coupled with their full control over their own IT infrastructure, visibility into long term costs and greater integration with the Microsoft software investment they have already made, the Board will have a solution in place to future proof their investment and provide improved social services to the District of Thunder Bay.
